It’s simple: You make the gesture and say “We tried” then make sure to get some cuts elsewhere. Obama will fold on NPR, I think. Then just let your congresscritters know what a shutdown really means for them. Not all will fall into line, but enough will. And its better to break the base’s hearts right now, so you have time to win them back later.
