I lived in NYC for most of my life - including the ragged 1970s and 1980s. We had our Summer of Sam, Bronx is Burning, and years where murders approached 2,000 or more. Now? 350 homicides is seen as a spike. Crime overall is down.

NYC is far safer than most other places in the country, though there are pockets where crime is far higher than state or even city averages.

Republicans have no understanding of statistics and the different between gross numbers and percentages and rates.
