What people seem to be missing is that it’s not just about the submarines — this whole AUKAUS thing being created behind France’s back is also pretty damned annoying.

France has over half a million citizens living in the Pacific (Polynesia + New Caledonia). Creating this pact without even talking to France was unbelievably stupid.
