Fr. Mychal F. Judge - Chaplain of the Fire Department of New York, and the first recorded victim of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Fr. Mychal F. Judge was a gay man.

He was designated victim #1 in the roll call at Ground Zero because of the respect he commanded among all that knew him.

FWIW, that’s a photo that still brings me to tears.
