You should have a last name then. You father’s uncle? or great uncle? Ancestry.com is good indeed. Jews are lucky in that regard. The survivors have been writing the history for some 40 odd years. I think they started to compile the books in the 70s, called the Yitzkor books. Most of it is online at the NY Public Library site via Jewishgen.org.

I need to find out her maiden name and her parent’s names. I might be able to go far with that. I have a German customer who has studied German WWI history and wants me to give him that uncle’s name. He says he has information on every pilot in WWI and I can’t wait to read about my uncle. Who knows where this could lead?
