re: #178 Dark_Falcon

It’s a quasi-privatization, and it is to a good degree political. But its much less about threat removal than about a school of thought (forgive the phrase, its the best fit possible, despite the subject matter) on how to reform higher education. In ultra-short form, the idea is that by removing government direct funding universities can be induced to get rid of wasteful programs and overhead and focus on providing useful education. The definition of ‘useful’ of course depends on who’s doing the defining.

I notice you sort of gloss over your own comment by not saying whether you agree this thinking is good or bad.

Do you want to carry your comment to a conclusion drawn by your thoughts?

Is it good to not have generalized education that is more for critical thinking overall, a pathway to further education by teaching how to learn and think instead of only thinking in a tech area that makes you a great tech, but not so great at what you could possibly become?

I see it as a way to damage real free expression that does lead to greatness.
