I have been a volunteer at the VA hospital here for a number of years and one thing I’ve noticed about African American men of his generation is their elegance. They are the only men I ever see wearing hats that aren’t baseball caps. Totally snappy dressers, even to come to the VA for their appointments, dressed like Sunday. Their demeanor is likewise elegant and gentlemanly in its finest sense.

That’s what I see in his picture.
