Like a family member I have, Rick is living in an alternate reality in which bad things don’t really happen. Babies aren’t born crack addicted, waiting to die. Women are not beaten into a bloody pulp then used sexually for another’s pleasure.

These things don’t happen, all babies are conceived in G-d’s love.

It’s just a short jump to the erroneous conclusion that Darwin was wrong because humans are not animals.

It’s called “Just World Theory” and it is a serious logical error where people suppose that bad things generally happen to bad people and good people are similarly rewarded. It is rather popular in this country.
