I suspect this is true. They had to know just how hated McAuliffe was in VA.

Yeah, I don’t think this is getting enough attention. McAuliffe is one of the more loathsome hacks in the Democratic Party. Anybody else probably wins by a more comfortable margin over Francisco Franco Ken C.
