I had a couple of young women knock at my door yesterday. I opened it, looked at them and said, I’m not interested. They did look a bit crestfallen but I didn’t feel bad since I had to go out of my way to answer the door for something I have no use for.

A friend of mine was once approached on the street by a couple of smiley, happy, ultra-neat people. “Hi,” they said to him. “We’re committed.”

“You should be,” he replied without missing a beat and walked on by them.
