It’s not necessarily terrible if they vote to approve a few of the nominees — even some who are incompetent. Otherwise, their votes would all be attacked as obstructionism and ignored. However, if they actually stand together against the really heinous nominees — which consists of most of them — they could gain support, that they are really not rejecting nominees just to reject them but that they have serious and thoughtful objections. Perhaps that could give them the ability to attract a couple from the other side to prevent approval. I’m grasping at straws here.
