after all what prez candidate would ever have posited “i can shoot someone on 5th avenue…”

further these are all absurd arguments based on absurd premises:

if the president had a gun and started shooting people on the street and a NYPD street cop tried to shoot the prez can the secret service shoot the cop to protect the president.

There was a movie years ago, based on a novel (Clint Eastwood? Kevin Costner?) where the President was trying to rape a girl, she grabbed a letter opener and stabbed him to protect herself, and the Secret Service shoots her. The rest of the story is chasing the letter opener that would prove the stabbing was self-defense (angle of the wound? I don’t remember.)
