House passes the debt ceiling legislation. 1/3 of the GOP caucus voted against, which meant that Democrats helped get it done.

NYT is trying to spin this as some kind of win for McCarthy.

It isn’t.

He’s a wounded duck. His caucus is in pretty open revolt, and his extremist core is angling for his neck. Biden played him, and he had no choice.

Anyone claiming that Biden got the worse of this deal is fooling themselves. Biden wounded McCarthy going into 2024, got a debt ceiling deal, and the budget deal isn’t as bad as people want to believe. Meanwhile, GOPers are going on and on about another tax cut plan to help billionaires by making permanent TCJA cuts. That wont survive contact with the Senate.
