Wine in boxes, canned cheese & margarine spray are fine for camping but not for everyday use.

Wine in boxes is perfect to keep around for cooking wine precisely because it keeps well in the fridge.

Yeah, I know, never cook with a wine of lesser quality than what you drink. Except that I find it really hard to believe that once it’s been “reduced to a glazy film” or in the oven for an hour, you’re going to notice the difference. Maybe if you’re pouring it in at the very end, but even so, I suspect middle of the road wine won’t be noticeably different from your good stuff in that application.
