i guess i’m gonna have to see ‘cloud atlas’ this weekend. the trailers didn’t particularly excite me, but i go to see all movies labelled ‘science fiction’ on general principles, and besides you have to give it credit for having a really great name

anybody have any recommendations on it?

also, at our local berkeley one remaining art house, the pacific film archive, we saw last night two films made in france during WWII by a great director i had never heard of before, jean grmillion. the films were Remorques, 1941, with the redoubtable jean gabin, and Lumire d’t, 1943
