I meant even in 1955, poor people had refrigerators…these people think the Great Depression was utopia.
Well, IIRC, in 1955 there were still areas that were literally dirt poor.
I remember my Dear Ole’ Dad went back to the area in which he grew-up in the 1990s. He comment that there were no more shacks —everyone had mobile homes. I think he hadn’t been back there since the early 1960s.
Standards have changed dramatically.
