The tremendous number of obese nurses tells one that there is a cognitive disconnect between working in the health care industry and the will to eat reasonably and make healthy choices. It doesn’t surprise me there are nurses who choose conspiracy theory over reason. I have a cousin who is an RN and she too freely admits her obesity is as much a lack of will as much as it is stress.

My doctor (who is downright skinny) tells me that the risks of obesity are vastly overstated, for those who aren’t morbidly obese anyway. Making it into a matter of “will” just allows us to continue to denigrate the only group it’s still okay to discriminate against in public. Also, failure to take a vaccine is not a failure of will.
