During the Trinity test a camera using a rotating mirror instead of a mechanical shutter took photos at a rate of either 1, or 3, (I forget which) MILLION frames per second. In three sequential photos (I think it was 3 million frames per second) you can see the bomb casing bulging, but still intact, the fireball half way down the still intact tower, and finally, the fireball reaching the ground and consuming the tower. Absolutely amazing photos. I’ve seen copies of them. Unreal.
If I ever remember the name of the photo book that I saw them in, I’ll let you know. The Title is sort of hovering around just outside the range of my memory, but it’s there.
