re: #191 Naso Tang

I have contact with a lot of people who are people on Medicaid.

Guess what? In this country if you live from paycheck to paycheck, or don’t even have a paycheck then medical costs are the least of your problems. The services are free and the only reason the medical statistics for the group are bad is because they don’t take advantage of the services until late in the game.

That isn’t true.

According to a peer-reviewed study published earlier this year in the American Journal of Medicine, nearly 62 percent of all U.S. bankruptcies in 2007 were due to health care costs — and 78 percent of people who were driven into bankruptcy by their medical bills had insurance.

A lot of middleclass people live paycheck to paycheck. And even if you don’t a lot of people are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy.
