I’m uneasy (but not necessarily afraid) around things that you can’t read the emotions of—they call it something “valley”, can’t remember right now—clowns, masks of any kind, robots, etc.

The Uncanny Valley effect. One of these days, when robots become all but human - and let’s be honest, it’ll be the Japanese who perfect that - I guess we’ll all see if the Uncanny Valley effect is real.
