Hmm. Not to me; the grits I’ve known all my life are made from hominy, not corn meal. We use yellow corn meal to make cornbread. I’ve never known anyone down here who uses yellow cornmeal to make “grits”.

You will notice that polenta has been made from a variety of grains since Roman times.

I didn’t say grits were made from cornmeal.
I said that hominy is just corn that has the outer shell removed by soaking the kernals in lye.
It’s all corn now, even if other grains have been used in history for polenta.
