I agree with this. The gaffes are an instant hit with the opposition and take our eyes right off the ball. And at the same time it allows the left to blame dropping poll numbers on anything but the real cause. If the “watch the gaffes” meme goes national you can bet there’s something else going on that we’re not supposed to notice.

Its a very good tactic. Set up the other side to think your main effort is at point A, so they don’t see the strike on point B coming. The key to countering that tactic is good intel: watching for the preparation the other side is trying to hide and then positioning your own forces accordingly. Its not foolproof, but we here keep our eyes open enough to give us a good chance.
