re: #191 wheat-dogghazi
The worst holiday disaster we ever had was when the water heater gave out the day before New Year’s Eve. Bottom finally rusted through and we had water all over the basement. Great way to start the New Year — with a big fat plumbing bill.
We had a sewer outfall clog on a Thanksgiving with a dozen people in the house. (Alabama roto-rooter guy charged $80 to show up with a crew of two.) They said Thanksgiving is a very big day—marginally-clogged sewer lines are just lurking until they take a big demand.
