So, this is just a stupid commercial about Cheerios but it means a lot to me. It shows interracial families and their children being normal and cute, not something to gawk at or to question
Sometimes you had to have been there to appreciate how things were seen in the past. ‘Julia’ was a TV show in 1968 that featured a black woman as a single mother with a job. Broke a lot of ground. Preceded ‘All in the Family’, ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’, and ‘One Day at a Time’, the white-people shows that also shook up traditional TV stereotypes. TV can have a positive cultural influence.
