So, did I hear it correctly…he was once a prisoner and was radicalized into AQ and then later released whereupon he became big in the organization? And I’m guessing the release was under Obama since it seems it was in 2009 as he was granted amnesty during the original reduction of the US in Iraq. I can’t find anything on the timing of all that or if it was already decided before Obama’s Defense Department hires took control. I find it interesting in light of the Bergdahl POW swap for the Taliban guys.

Edit…don’t know if immunity is the right word. Amnesty replaced immunity.
