To be fair, covid19 was a vicious curveball from Mother Nature. The shit had already hit the fan by the time it was clear that this wasn’t another SARS- or MERS-like outbreak that would be relatively easy to manage.

Of course, Trump’s response to this difficult situation has been pessimal.

The problem (for Trump) with such an approach is that the past few weeks have seen the record fleshed out to show that the experts all told him to take precautions and he blew them off for fear that the economy would dip. “Nobody could have seen this coming” doesn’t really work when people did see it coming and you decided to play golf and hold rallies where you called the whole thing a “hoax.”
