The thing is, if there’s a wide discrepancy between the price gas is being sold to stations and the price they’re selling it for, the first guy to drop his prices even 5 cents will make an absolute KILLING, which would then prompt a race to the bottom. So either there’s collusion there that needs to be investigated, or it’s something else. My own suspicion is that gas is being sold to stations on futures, and so the prices we’re seeing are prices that were negotiated when oil was more in flux. The prices should come down in weeks, once the futures that are being sold to stations have caught up to current oil prices.
