Yes, primarily from the Blue Dogs, but there are enough other Dems that are beholden to insurance co’s and the like.

I do understand people’s concerns about this, but if you look at the language of sec 1233, it’s not scary. The reason fro providing the consultations (which are optional btw) is to ensure that the patient is informed of all options, and that the patient’s wishes are what’s respected. Sadly, many people never make their wishes known, and then it’s too late if they become incapactitated.

sec 5a(ii) this is what an “order” is:

‘‘(ii) effectively communicates the individual’s preferences regarding life sustaining treatment, including an indication of the treatment and care desired by the individual.

I did check this out very thoroughly for some friends of mine who are seniors and are very concerned. BTW, so far the AARP has approved this, (so has the AMA) and the AARP would hardly be likely to approve it if it were promoting euthanasia or designed to deny care.
