I really get the sense that Trump has never negotiated a deal with a true equal. He’s either in a position of great power (a real estate/construction deal where his company “owns” the land) or great weakness (said project has entered bankruptcy and he’s at the mercy of the trustee/court/creditors).

Personally, my impression is that Trump hasn’t been the face of any business deal negotiated by his company in years. Either people have spoken with his lawyers or they’ve spoken with one of his spawn. If only because it’s made it easier for him to throw underlings to the wolves when the debt collectors drag his ass to court.
