true enough but they were in an enormous hurry to get outa dodge too

i’m not *entirely* sure about that…
sure , lots of them got the hell out and headed east, but i read somewhere that an awful lot of the Paris garrison surrendered to the Americans , rather than facing the wrath of Hitler for disobeying orders (which would result is either execution or facing the Russians on the eastern front…)
