I agree with you. On the other hand when role play ceases to be an occasional recreational activity and instead becomes a defining characteristic of one’s persona, I would think that might become difficult and stressful.

Oh I don’t know. I’m not going to pretend that I understand the machinations of gay subcultures. But I do know primarily hetero subcultures pretty well. Emo, Goth, bikers, Indie rockers - these are all people who visually are fairly easy to peg and for some reason or another, are not comfortable in the skin their in, find ways to dress it up to connect with people with similar interests.

I dunno. Maybe I’m missing something here.
