Not to lay the blame totally on the victim, but if you will notice, she was wearing dark clothing and no reflectors on the bike. Uber will use these two factors in their defense.

It still goes back to the issue that these cars are sold on the idea that these sorts of things wouldn’t happen. No sound, so we can’t tell if the car horn honked to warn her as she entered the car’s path. Presumably, the car’s sensors should be able to detect a full-sized human being walking a bicycle across the road.

The car didn’t swerve, and it doesn’t appear to brake.
