Dear Senator Sinema:

As a constituent, I find your defense of the filibuster to be completely unbelievable. I know you want to be a “maverick” like John McCain, but the fact is, your defense of a procedural tactic that has been used in the past to suppress voting and other rights is odious. The reality is the current GOP is not going to work with anyone, and they have it in their heads they will destroy anything that Joe Biden and the Democratic party will set out to do. There is no reasoning with a bunch of people led by Mitch McConnell, who is quite clear on what he intends NOT to do.

You do your constituents exactly ZERO favors when you support the filibuster, because the filibuster is only used to suppress legislation extending and protecting rights. I just celebrated my birthday. On my 4th birthday, after a 54 day filibuster, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed out of the Senate. That there is the legacy of the filibuster—used to stop important legislation dead in its tracks. (Why yes, I was born on Juneteenth.)

I am telling you that if you do not start representing US, your constituents, you WILL be primaried in 2024. We’re tired of you prancing around and curtseying to Mitch McConnell.
