I really wish I could make bread that was edible… every time I’ve tried it fails somehow. The last one came out of the oven early and still could have been used as a brick for building.

Get a bread machine. Worth the investment. I wore myself out trying to figure out why my bread didn’t look as good as the photos. Paid $4 for a thrift store bread machine, which I still have (even though it’s a 1996 model, Sunbeam did the digitals pretty well). Still do the final rise outside it, and bake in the oven, though because I like loaves, not blocks. Takes a lot of strain out of the process—like kneading.
