re: #196 The Very Reverend Battleaxe of Knowledge

No, they don’t like Hillary’s personality because they’ve been incessantly told they don’t like her personality. Same with Gore. This is the news media’s function now—to tell who we do and don’t like.

It started in 1988 when we were solemnly told from every TV box that Michael Dukakis “lacked charisma”. (Whatever the hell “charisma” is, if Dukakis lacked it and Bush had it, who would want it?)

I agree but riding in a tank was not a smart move, the conservatives were still hardcore “Democrats are Commies” and he helped them by being a goofball.

re: #191 Testy Toad T

I guess all I’m saying is “I don’t think I’ll ever like this person, but I’ll end up voting for him/her” is a completely reasonable and sensible position to take, and it’s totally understandable that a person might prefer to vote for a person who is equally qualified but more personally agreeable.

I mean, to be quite honest with everybody, I have never particularly liked John Kerry. I still pulled the lever for him in ‘04 so hard it about broke off.

We are arguing different topics. I was saying what you are saying, that you vote for a competent politician not someone you like or want a beer with. It was the person I quoted saying they didn’t “like” Hillary so they wont vote for her, like many people did with Gore.
