As both a Jew & an American, I don’t want public displays of chanukiot (“menorah” is the term for the one at the Temple, everything else is just a holiday stand-in) - and not just because I think it violates the Constitution & we’ve managed to wink at it, but because of how & why we’ve done it. I was furious when I heard a secular - & non-Jewish - judge rule that “menorahs aren’t religious displays (WTTE)”, because not only is that insulting, it’s an obvious cover for all the Xmas stuff to go up, too. People should spend their own money for this sort of thing, not mine.
