Would Holmes not have gone on his rampage if he had only been able to get, say, 200 rounds of ammunition rather than 6000? Would the clerk at the big box store have refused the sale because Holmes “seemed” like a nut? If he had been forced to use a functionally identical but traditionally styled rifle instead of the “assault weapon” would that have stopped him?
