2 other things this ship could do:

1. Air Defense: The Russians designed the Liaoning originally with a fairly formidable air defense capacity. That could aid other ships by screening them.

2. SS-N-19 Her sister, the Russian Admiral Kuznetsov, mounts SS-N-19 Granit Anti-Ship missiles. The Chinese haven’t mentioned if Liaoning still carries those. If she does, then her ability to strike other ships would be formidable.
