China is a long way from being the strategic equal of the U.S. It has a lot of internal strife, a rapidly aging population due to its one child policy and its military isn’t even close to being on par with the U.S. Obviously over time the strategic balance will shift among the countries of the Pacific, but I don’t expect it to turn into a bipolar China-US system. Remember, India is also a rising economic and military power that won’t accept a secondary position to China in Asia.
