if i had been listening to music in a style that dated to 40 years previously in the early 1970s, it would have had to have dated to the early 1930s - which would place it a few years shy of benny goodman’s big breakthrough
Ah, but Duke Ellington’s early masterpieces from the 20’s in Harlem would still be available and, good as Bennie was, the Duke was, simply, the best Jazz composer ever. Only Louie came close with his Hot Fives & Hot Sevens.
