No, Mr. Huckabee. You do not want to empower me to be more than a “victim of my gender.” You want to keep me that way, and so does the rest of the Republican party.

The entire GOP view of women is of them as victims. They’re victims of their hormones, victims of their emotions, victims of the media, victims of “progressives,” always victims who simply must be coddled and told they’re not as “good” as men are and should just accept “their place.” And “empowerment”? The GOP says that it’s wrong to view women as equals, wrong to say they can do the same jobs as men, wrong to say they can succeed in male occupations, and it’s wrong to think that women have any lot in life besides “mother” and “homemaker.”
