They reached that point months ago, when they realized that he wasn’t going to break his recusal to fire Mueller, but before they realized Rosenstein wasn’t their fall guy either. Now they’ve no real idea how the fuck to thread the needle here, but they’re sure whatever is done to fire Mueller will be totally justified and for the good of the nation.

I imagine they’re all in a flurry about Mueller getting closer and closer to disgracing their fearless leader, who doesn’t give a shit about them anyway.
