My paternal grandmother, born Maria Schultz, was a Sudeten German. But she emigrated just after the turn of the last century.

The Sudeten Germans I’ve encountered here are quite elderly, and when I’ve talked to them, they’ve all told me they were children when they and their families were expelled.

And the expulsion of the Sudeten Germans is still a sore point in this little part of the world. No one’s going to go to war over it, obviously, but it’s still an issue, albeit a pretty minor one.
