This was an (unintentional) experiment that worked once. Aerosols from automobile exhaust reflected so much sunlight that they slowed down global warming from the late 40s to the late 80s. Then emission controls started really kicking in and warming spiked up to where it should have been during the early 90s, after which the increase slowed to normal, allowing the deniers to claim their “hiatus”.
