re: #69 Killgore Trout

Anyone else suspect this is part on an internal RNC campaign to get rid of Steele?

I suspect it’s people being cheap.

A chain of responsibility failures.

1) Staffer A told not to do after event party and proceeds to anyways. His credit card is refused.
{Option: Do not do what you were told not to do. Or find a different venue within reasonable expenses and/or be willing to eat the expense personally.}

2) Staffer B ponies up his card and it is accepted.
{See option above.}

2) Staffer B asks RNC for reimbursement for an unapproved event.
{D’oh! Could have opted to just eat the bill.}

3) Supervisor of some sort approves the reimbursement. Since this is approved it will end up in the FEC filing.
{Apparently does not see the coming storm. Could have refused the reimbursement with the result that Staffer B gets stuck. Or… worked something out as a gentleman’s agreement and made the event not paid for by the RNC. However, there are rules in place to prevent “nod, nod, wink, wink” stuff like this in any case. But it wouldn’t be in the FEC filing.}

4) Media fodder hits the fan.

5) Staffer B thrown under bus.
{Note that Staffer B has now lost his job due to asking for, and getting, reimbursement. After multiple opportunities for someone to simply eat the bill for something the RNC should probably avoid getting involved with. Location aside, should the RNC be spending $2,000 (roughly) on staff parties?}
