It’s happened to me a couple of times. It usually gets backed up with some company policy violation bullshit.

One company fired me for inappropriate use of their email system. You see, I had the unmitigated gall to receive inappropriate, unsolicited emails. Not send mind you, but receive.

I’m sure it had nothing at all to do with the fact that I brought up possible state and federal labor law violations regarding another company policy just three days prior to my termination.

I was let go for having the audacity to call my then wife, twice, during a five hour period to let her know my phone extension (before I owned a cell phone) and my hours for the day (I learned of both details at different times of the day). Granted, each call was for less than one minute. I had successfully violated company policy for personal calls. It was bullshit but what could I do? NOTHING.
