Goetz’s actions were thought by many to be based on racism, and as such I thought that an article on the Goetz shooting automatically had race as an element. I also thought that discussing Goetz’s relative success versus Ramseur’s failure could possibly be taken the wrong way, so for both of those reasons I thought the disclaimer wise. I wanted to be clear I wasn’t trying to say something racist via ‘code words’, as some on Fox News are wont to do.

It’s just nothing you were talking about had to do with race. You were talking about background having an effect on outcome, which is kind of indisputable.
