Why?

The time lag takes a lot out of me. I think if I were to come back, I’d have to spend a month. My sleep cycle is still way off. Not sleeping makes the old body hurt more, the mind work less well and limits the activities one can engage in.

11 hours on a airplane didn’t do the back any good either. Been wearing a brace and doing my exercizes so all is relatively ok, but it would take a week or so for me to be ready to do some hiking—which is what I would really like to do here. The geology is very cool. Lots of very interesting historical stuff on the islands too. Takes time to investigate and digest. A week long vacation isn’t enough.

I’m not a hang-on-the-beach person. For beaches, partying, shopping touristy type stuff—I feel like I might as well be in Florida. Florida would be cheaper.

FYI—gas as been between $4.90 and $5/gal here. Luckily the island isn’t so big that you burn lots of gas getting places.
