“Early on in life, [Stephen Miller] was on a crusade against liberalism and liberals,” said De La Torre, who grew up in Santa Monica’s historically Latino and African American Pico neighborhood and graduated a decade before Miller. “He just didn’t buy it. He didn’t believe the oppression existed…. This guy is 17 years old, and it’s like listening to someone who’s 70 years old — in the 1930s.”
