On the Cheney’s : we should remember than many of the GOP (both camps, the neocons and religious-right) actually despise Trump. They had no use for him at all.

Only because Trump correctly judged that America was ripe for a populist idiot did the GOP machinery decide they had to be on the Trump bandwagon.

The old-school neocons thought warmongering about enemies was enough.

The religious right thought that scaring people about the horrors of sex and atheists was enough.

The klansmen thought scaring white-people about brown-people was enough.

Trump showed them that the way to getting more votes was to appeal to the vapidness of reality TV.
